Janet H. is the owner and editor of Racket & Rally, published by Janet Media Group. She built this site because choosing racquet gear is needlessly confusing: most buying guides are written for the player you might become rather than the one you are today. Racket & Rally sorts rackets, shoes and paddles by the level you actually play at, and explains the specs behind each pick in plain language so you can judge the recommendation for yourself rather than take it on trust.

Every guide here is researched and written by Janet H. — no sponsored placements, no agency filler.

What this site is

A gear guide for tennis, padel and pickleball, organized around one idea: that player level is the variable that decides whether a piece of equipment helps you or fights you. A frame that is perfect at 4.5 is actively counterproductive in your first year, and almost nothing online says so plainly.

So the site is structured by level first and by product category second. If you are not sure which band you are in, our skill levels page defines them by what happens in your rallies rather than by a rating you may not have.

What we do not claim

We do not run a physical test lab, and we will not pretend we do. Nothing on this site says "we tested", "our testers" or "after forty hours on court", because none of that would be true. There is no editorial team — there is one author.

What we do instead is stated openly on how we choose: manufacturer specifications, published playtester reviews from established outlets, and cited third-party measurement, set against a written list of criteria. Every page ends with the sources we actually retrieved, and every specification we print is quoted from one of them.

We also do not publish prices. There is no live price feed on this site, and a stale number is worse than no number — so every buy link goes straight to the current listing at the retailer.

Racket & Rally is published by Janet Media Group. The site is funded by affiliate commission — when you buy through a link here we earn a commission from the retailer at no extra cost to you. Corrections
