What we collect

Information you give us

If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, topic and message you submit. That message is delivered to our inbox by email and is used only to reply to you. We do not add contact form submissions to a mailing list and we do not sell or share them.

Information collected automatically

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which links are clicked. GA4 collects information such as approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, pages visited and referring site. We use it in aggregate — we do not attempt to identify individual readers, and we do not combine analytics data with anything you send us through the contact form.

We also record when an affiliate buy link is clicked, as an anonymous event, so we can see which recommendations readers find useful.

Cookies

• Analytics cookies are set by Google Analytics to distinguish one visit from another. You can block them with your browser settings or a content blocker, and the site will work normally.
• Affiliate cookies are set by the retailer when you click a buy link, and are how they credit a later purchase to this site. These are set by the retailer, not by us, and are governed by that retailer's privacy policy. See our affiliate disclosure for how the links work.

We do not set advertising cookies of our own, we do not run display ads, and we do not operate a tracking pixel for any social network.

Third parties

• Google Analytics — site analytics.
• Vercel — hosting. Standard server logs are generated when a page is requested.
• Microsoft 365 — delivers contact form messages to our inbox.
• Amazon — receives you when you click a buy link, and applies its own privacy policy from that point.

How long we keep things

Contact form messages are kept in our email for as long as they are useful for answering you and for tracking a correction, and are deleted when they are not. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' default retention settings.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. In practice the only personal data we are likely to hold is an email you sent us. To ask about it, email janet.hoyo@yahoo.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

This site is aimed at adults buying sports equipment and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or which third parties we use, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be described here rather than made silently.
