Best padel rackets for tennis elbow in 2026
In tennis you can fix a sore arm with string. In padel there is no string, so the core hardness and the grip are the only levers you have - and the core is chosen once.
By Janet H.Updated

The short answer
The Babolat Contact is the best padel racket for a sore elbow: a soft EVA core, a round head and 340 g, which is the lightest combination of all three comfort factors we list. If you are already competing and cannot drop to an entry frame, the Babolat Technical Viper Soft 3.0 is the comfort build of an attacking racket.

The picks in detail
01Babolat Contact
Top pick
Best for: Every comfort variable set the kind way
The three things that reduce impact shock in a padel racket are a soft core, a round head and a moderate weight, and the Contact has all three: soft EVA, round, 340 g. There is no fourth lever hiding somewhere - that is the whole list, and this frame does not compromise on any of it.
The soft EVA core is doing the real work. EVA foam deforms on impact and some of the collision energy goes into compressing the foam rather than traveling back through the frame into your forearm. A hard EVA core returns more of that energy to the ball, which is why attacking frames are harsh.
A round head matters for a second reason specific to arm pain. Off-center contact twists the frame, and the twist is what loads the forearm tendons hardest. A round head has its sweet spot where a mistimed swing is most likely to land, so it produces fewer of those jarring hits in the first place.

02adidas RX Series Light
Lightest soft frame
Best for: Comfort plus the fastest swing
A soft core, a soft face and a head-light balance is the specification Padel Market record for this frame, and all three of those reduce load on the arm. Head-light balance in particular shortens the lever your wrist has to control, which lowers the torque reaching the joint on every shot.
It is the pick for a player whose arm trouble is aggravated by late contact rather than by hard contact. A frame that arrives on time is hit in the middle; a frame that arrives late is hit off center, and off-center contact is where the shock comes from.
The limitation is the same as always: almost no power. If your game depends on winning the point from the net, this frame will not do it for you, and forcing power out of a frame that has none is itself a route to arm trouble.

03Babolat Technical Viper Soft 3.0
Best competitive option
Best for: Competitive players who cannot drop tier
This is the attacking Viper with a comfort layer: Babolat specify 365 g and a 3K soft carbon face, and it is the frame in their 2026 technical collection aimed at an offensive competitor who still wants damping. It is the only genuinely competitive frame on this page.
The reason it works for a sore arm is that soft carbon flexes where a standard competition layup does not. You still get the diamond-adjacent power profile, so you can finish a point, but the face is not transmitting the whole impact straight up the handle.
At 365 g it is the heaviest frame here, and mass cuts both ways for an injured arm - it resists being knocked off line, which is good, and it loads the shoulder more over a long match, which is not. If your pain is in the elbow this is defensible; if it is in the shoulder, go lighter.

04Nox Nextgen Pro Hybrid 3K
Best middle ground
Best for: A soft core in a step-up frame
Padel Market describe this as a soft, forgiving core inside a 3K carbon face, which is the useful middle of the market: a frame with room to grow into that has not been stiffened to get there. The shape is a hybrid teardrop rather than a round head.
That hybrid shape is the compromise and it is worth understanding. It pushes the sweet spot slightly higher than a round frame, which costs you a little forgiveness on mistimed contact, and in exchange it gives you more to hit with when you do get above the net.
It is the pick for a player whose elbow is a nagging irritation rather than a reason to stop playing, and who does not want to buy a beginner frame to manage it. If the elbow is genuinely painful, the Contact at the top of this page is the safer purchase.

Why padel has fewer levers than tennis
In tennis, a player with a sore elbow has three cheap moves before they buy anything: change the string type, drop the tension, and restring more often. All three are decisions made after purchase, and between them they account for most of the comfort available in a tennis setup.
A padel racket has no strings. The face is a solid composite surface over a foam core, and both are fixed when the frame is made. That means core hardness - usually described as soft, medium or hard EVA - is doing the job that string type does in tennis, and you choose it once, at the point of sale.
The practical consequence is that a padel player with arm trouble has to get the purchase right rather than tuning their way out of a mistake. It is also why every frame on this page is specified soft: there is no soft string to rescue a hard core.
The four frames compared
| Racket | Core | Shape | Weight | Tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Babolat Contact | Soft EVA | Round | 340 g | Entry |
| adidas RX Series Light | Soft | Round | Not published | Entry |
| Babolat Technical Viper Soft 3.0 | 3K soft carbon face | Not published | 365 g | Premium |
| Nox Nextgen Pro Hybrid 3K | Soft, forgiving | Hybrid / teardrop | Not published | Mid |
The pattern to read is that comfort and attack are genuinely opposed in padel, with one exception. The three entry and mid frames all buy their comfort by giving up smash power. The Viper Soft is the only one that pays for its damping in money instead.
Two cheaper changes to try first
If you already own a padel racket, there are two things to do before replacing it, and they cost a fraction of a new frame.
- 01Add an overgrip, and check your grip size. A grip that is too small forces you to squeeze harder, and sustained forearm tension is a far more common cause of elbow pain than impact shock is. An overgrip adds roughly half a size.
- 02Check the age of the frame. Foam cores stiffen with use. A racket that has taken two seasons of regular play is harder than it was new, and a frame that used to be comfortable may simply be worn out - how long does a padel racket last covers the signs.
If you also play tennis, the string in your tennis racket is the more likely culprit and the cheaper fix. Our best tennis strings for tennis elbow page covers that side.
How these picks were made
Racket & Rally does not run a test lab. Nothing on this page is written as though we had hit with, worn or measured anything ourselves, because we have not. What we do is read the published specification sheets and the third-party lab measurements cited at the foot of the page, set them against each other, and say which differences change something you will actually notice on court.
Every product here is already in our registry, which means it carries a cited retailer or review source and a verified listing. Our full selection criteria set out the method, and the editorial policy covers corrections and how often pages are revisited. No price is written into this page as a recommendation - the figure on each buy button is the live one.
Common questions
Can padel cause tennis elbow?
Yes. The condition is a tendon overload at the outer elbow and any repeated racket impact can produce it. Padel adds a specific factor tennis does not have: there is no string bed to absorb energy, so more of each impact reaches the frame and your arm.
What padel racket is best for tennis elbow?
A soft-cored, round-headed frame at a moderate weight. Of the rackets we list, the Babolat Contact combines all three: soft EVA core, round head, 340 g. If you need a competitive frame, the Babolat Technical Viper Soft 3.0 is the damped version of an attacking racket.
Is a soft or hard padel racket better for your arm?
Soft. A soft EVA core deforms on impact and absorbs part of the collision energy rather than returning it up the handle. Hard cores return more energy to the ball, which is why attacking frames feel harsh.
Should I use a lighter padel racket if my elbow hurts?
Within reason. Lighter frames are easier to get to the ball on time, and on-time contact is centered contact, which jars less. Go too light and the frame stops resisting a hard ball, and getting knocked off line is its own kind of load.
Does grip size affect tennis elbow in padel?
It can matter more than the frame. A grip that is too small makes you squeeze to keep control of the handle, and sustained forearm tension is a common driver of elbow pain. Adding an overgrip raises the size by roughly half a step.
Will a round padel racket help my elbow more than a teardrop?
Usually, for a reason that is not about the shape itself. A round head centers the sweet spot where mistimed contact tends to land, so you produce fewer twisting off-center hits, and those hits load the forearm hardest.
